Interviewer:  Bill, you recently completed your 1600th show playing in Michigan, Virginia, Georgia, New Mexico, Cancun-Mexico, and Colorado.... What are your thoughts?

I am thankful for all of my opportunities.  Playing in Mexico was a big thrill for me because it reminded me that if you work hard special things can happen.  Colorado venues have been the majority of my shows, and I appreciate all of the establishments and people that have hired me.  My first show was in March of 2002 in Mead, CO, and I will always have fond memories of that beginning.

Interviewer:  Bill, how did you get started?

Bill Taylor: In 1997, I was working for Compuware in the metro Detroit, MI area, and made a couple of friends that were out performing at small venues. I was invited to 'try' and play a few songs for an open mic that a music friend was hosting on Sunday nights. I simply got through it and was given a gracious response given my limitations and lack of experience. Although I was not perceived as the next big thing in entertainment in Michigan I did discover that I had a strong desire to perform. And, I knew that the only way I was going to get opportunities to perform would be at open mics. I continued to play open mics in Michigan until I moved from Michigan to Colorado in February 2001 to work for IBM. After arriving in CO, I decided to try and find more opportunities to play guitar and sing, and was able to find ONE place that was in the middle of EGYPT so to speak. They more or less told me that I was OK, and that I could sing for supper, and make tips. And, this is exactly what I did for ALL of 2001-2002. During this time I worked on guitar, I worked on vocals, and I added new songs each week. Eventually, I branched out to other places in Greeley, Boulder, Estes Park and Denver, and found some rhythm and style for my music selections.

Interviewer:  Were you nervous in the beginning?

Bill Taylor: I have never had stage fright simply because I truly wanted to entertain and reach people. There have been some larger venues in the last 2 years that have made me more nervous like playing in Cancun, and other music festivals, but those nerves fade away once you start playing the guitar and singing from your heart. My goal has always been to entertain and provide something for people to enjoy, and I have no interest in fame, trophies, or hype. I am happy to receive the opportunities that God has given me, and my prayer is that the time I spend with people will be an experience that is appreciated and remembered.

Interviewer:  Who are some of the people that helped you along the way?

Bill Taylor: The people I want to thank the most are: My first guitar teacher Bill Brown, my Aunt Martha who plays piano and sings, my Uncle Colbert Croft who is a song-writer and singer, my mother and father, my sister who encouraged me to write songs, my Uncle Don who encouraged me, and helped me with writing lyrics, and especially Dave Huff in Michigan that gave me my first chance to perform at a music venue. And, let me not forget the owner of that little establishment in Mead, CO that gave me a stage in an 8 table room to sing my songs for supper, and get started.

Interviewer:  What are some of your thoughts about your music?

Bill Taylor: My story is a simple one, and is not surrounded with fame or awards. But, it is a story that demonstrates that if you want to do something in life it's never too late, and you might accomplish more than you could ever imagine!  To anyone and everyone that has ever encouraged me or come out to hear me, let me just say it would be impossible through words to express my true appreciation, but the only words I can say - Thank You.
